This study looks at Jean Dusaulx’s relation with Jean-Jacques Rousseau. It focuses in particular on Dusaulx’s views on Jean-Jacques Rousseau‘s character by depicting anecdotes of their brief encounter between 1770 and 1771. In his narrations, Dusaulx reveals Rousseau’s negative character traits by portraying an insane person. This image strongly contrasts with Rousseau as the immortal author of the Contrat social.
