MIKES KELEMEN
This is the first critical edition in French of the Letters from Turkey (1794) by Kelemen Mikes, a Hungarian political figure and essayist. The original letters are written in Hungarian and some passages in Transylvanian dialect. The letters can be considered as an important piece of Hungarian literature. They consist of memoirs from the everyday life, anecdotes, comments about the life of Hungarian immigrants in Turkey and descriptions of the Ottoman Empire.
