At the root of the so-called “feminine reserve” lies the Eve complex: the poetic interplay of the desire for knowledge and the awareness of death. A contemporary reading of Biblical texts and of works by Violette Leduc and Marguerite Duras shows that literature is the ideal place to try out a model-free mimesis.
