This study deals with Nicolas Lenglet Dufresnoy, a French diplomat, historian, philosopher and author of several books. It focuses on particular at Lenglet Dufresnoy’s writings and shows the difficulty of interpreting his works as he contradicts himself from one work to another. The study claims that his works need to be read in the light of the history of publishing and practical reading.
