This study looks at how female writers were treated by literary critics and literary theory. It is a fact that there is a discrepancy between the number of women active in literature and the literary discourses existing on works written by female writers. This volume comments this situation by observing the period between the Renaissance period and the 20th century to contribute to a different image of the reception of female writers.
