L’ORTHOGRAPHE DES DICTIONNAIRES FRANÇAIS LA CONSTRUCTION DE LA NORME GRAPHIQUE PAR LES LEXICOGRAPHES
MARTINEZ CAMILLE
In each new edition of the two French dictionaries examined in this study, Petit Larousse and Petit Robert, lexicographers consistently introduced new spelling reforms. Implemented according to a predefined metalexicographic approach, a summary of the modifications arisen between 1997 and 2011 reveals clear tendencies in the evolution of French spelling. The descriptive analysis of the 3800 changes observed leads to questions regarding the place of dictionaries in our society and the role of the lexicographers in the linguistic change.
