This publication looks at the figure of the father in Sartre‘s works. Marked by the early death of Sartre’s father, the father is omnipresent in his novels, theatre plays and biographical studies. Reading Sartre in the light of the image of the father allows the reader to better understand the coherence that unifies Sartre’s literary work, his philosophical thinking and this political engagement.
