The representation of bodies in the first cycle of the Crusades (the Chanson d’Antioche, de Jérusalem and des Chétifs) discriminates between populations but sometimes eschews the Manichean opposition between Crusaders and Saracens, which leads to a reexamination of the works’ ideological and generic affiliations.
