Adaptation de Raoul de Saint-Arroman et Charles Hugot. Éditée par Diane Henneton.
At the centre of this study is André Antoine’s 1902 stage adaptation of Zola‘s novel La Terre. It focuses, amongst other things, on the difficulties of reducing more than five hundred pages to a two-hour stage performance, the representation of long passages of dialogues or violence, inacceptable in regard to censorship of the time. The present edition of the unpublished adaptation includes an introduction on the history of the play and its representation.
