Jean Louis Ratuit de Souches (1608-1682) belonged to one of the lines of French-speaking migrant nobles who were transplanted to the Lands of the Bohemian Crown. Despite humble origins, he acquired great wealth and fame as one of the greatest war commanders of the time, throwing in his lot with the Habsburgs.
