This study analyzes the “imagined geography” of the Indian Orient (India and Ceylon) as conveyed by the reports of German-speaking travellers between 1880 and 1930 – a time when the trip to India was becoming so-to-speak standardized, altering the contemporary traveller’s perception of the world and of otherness.
