This essay parses the many incarnations of “creative criticism”, as defined by Oscar Wilde in The Critic as Artist. It aims to change the reader’s perception of the most audacious theatrical productions and the least faithful adaptations, suggesting that such “treasons” may even be valid in critical texts.
