MICHELI DU CREST JACQUES-BARTHÉLÉMY
This study deals with Jacques-Barthélemy Micheli du Crest (September 28, 1690 – March 29, 1766), a Genevan military engineer, physicist and cartographer. Born into the aristocracy, he eventually fled to France as an enemy of Geneva. It focuses in particular on Du Crest’s work Discours en forme de lettres sur le gouvernement de Genève (1735), which exposes for the first time his political thinking.
